Cookie Policy
Last updated: August 7, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Care Connect Kids (“we,” “us,” or “our”) uses cookies and Similar technologies on our websites and apps (the “Services”). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores on your computer or device through your web browser. They help websites to make the site work, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used. “Similar technologies” include things like web beacons, tags, and pixels.
Our approach
We keep our use of cookies deliberately minimal. The cookies we use are first-party (set by us or by the services that run our platform, such as our authentication provider) and are limited to keeping you signed in, securing your session, remembering your preferences, and understanding which channels bring families to us. We also use a product-analytics service (PostHog) to understand how the app is used and to fix bugs — it stores a random identifier in your browser's local storage rather than a cookie, and everything you type and your personal details are masked before anything is recorded. We do not use cookies for third-party advertising, we do not allow advertising networks to track you across other websites, and we do not sell or share your information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Cookies we use
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|
| Clerk session cookies (e.g. __session, __client) Clerk (our authentication provider), first-party | Keep you signed in and secure your session on the parent, clinic, and referral apps. | Session / short-lived | Strictly necessary |
| site_access Care Connect Kids, first-party | Remembers that you have entered the private-beta access code, so the app stays unlocked during our limited beta. | Up to ~30 days | Strictly necessary |
| cck_ref Care Connect Kids, first-party (signed) | Records that you arrived through a healthcare professional’s referral link, so we can credit that referral when you create an account. | ~30 days | Functional (attribution) |
| cck_utm Care Connect Kids, first-party (signed) | Records the marketing campaign parameters from the link you arrived through, so we can understand which campaigns bring families to us. | ~30 days | Functional (attribution) |
| cck_clinic Care Connect Kids, first-party (signed) | Records that you arrived through a clinic’s shared link or review request, so we can credit that clinic when you create an account. | ~30 days | Functional (attribution) |
| cck_parent Care Connect Kids, first-party (signed) | Records that you arrived through a link another parent shared with you, so we can credit that referral and take you to the clinic they recommended after you sign up. | ~30 days | Functional (attribution) |
| PostHog analytics storage (browser localStorage — not a cookie) PostHog (our analytics provider), stored in your browser by our app | Remembers a random analytics identifier so we can understand how the app is used (pages visited, features used) and watch anonymized session recordings to fix bugs. Everything you type and your personal details are masked before anything is recorded. Never used for advertising. | Until you clear your browser storage or delete your account | Analytics |
Analytics and session recordings
We use PostHog, a product-analytics service, to understand how families use the app (for example, how many people complete sign-up) and to watch masked session recordings so we can find and fix bugs. This is configured conservatively: everything you type is masked before recording, your name, contact details, your child's information, and your conversations with our Concierge are masked on screen, and we send PostHog only a small, fixed list of events — never the content of anything you write. PostHog stores a random identifier in your browser's local storage (listed in the table above); it does not use it for advertising, and we do not share analytics data with ad networks. If you delete your account, we also delete your analytics data from PostHog.
Email tracking
If you receive marketing emails from us (which you can opt into and out of at any time), those emails may include small tracking pixels that tell us whether the email was opened, so we can measure whether our communications are useful. This is standard for marketing email and is handled by our email provider.
How to control cookies
Most browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies through their settings. Because the cookies above are used to sign you in and keep your session secure, blocking them may prevent parts of the Services from working. For cookies and Similar technologies that are classified as strictly necessary, due to the essential nature of such technologies in our application, you will not be able to disable them and the objective is to provide you with notice and transparency about our usage of strictly necessary cookies or Similar technologies used in order to provide the Services. You can unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time using the link in the email footer.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy as our Services change. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date above.
